Second Look on Fashion

It doesn’t matter if you’re in middle school, high school, college or even the workplace, everyone has their own unique perspective on what fashion is. To me, that’s the most fascinating part of being involved in the fashion world. Rather than posting only about my personal fashion opinions, I thought it would be important to bring insights from another college student.

Paige WIlson’s Styling Rack

For this post, I interviewed a third-year college student at Texas State University. Her name is Paige Wilson and she has a creative outlook on fashion and within her style. The interview consisted of the following questions:

  1. How would you best describe your style?

Paige describes her style as comfortable and colorful. When styling herself, she prioritizes comfort over everything else. She also utilizes bright colors that she feels complement each other. Her favorite colors to pair together are green with gold accents and accessories.

2. What is the most valuable part of an outfit?

She believes that jewelry is the most valuable part of an outfit. She says that jewelry can make or break an outfit. You can take a simple outfit and add a lot of character. However, sometimes you can overdo the jewelry and ruin the look you’re trying to achieve.

3. What is your favorite current fashion trend?

She says that she loves the y2k look that has been growing popularity recently. What she means by the y2k trend is mixing the 2000’s style with lots of color. She thinks by adding clothes that almost look like they would clash together make the outfit look better

4. Do you have any specific inspirations for your style?

She gets most of her inspiration primarily from Pinterest. She looks at pictures of not only individual pieces of clothes to put together, but she also looks at pictures of people in outfits and takes ideas from multiple pictures to create the perfect look. She says she sometimes gets style inspirations from pictures that aren’t even of clothes, rather getting looks based on certain aesthetics

5. What advice do you have for women trying to express themselves through fashion?

The best advice she had was to go out of your comfort zone and try it out. She said the most important part of fashion is feeling good in your clothes and if you like it, wear it confidently. She says the clothes shouldn’t wear you, you should wear the clothes.

In this interview, I learned some new ways to style and even found clothing inspiration myself. Remember, you are in control of your style, and you can express yourself in so many creative ways. Have fun with clothes and get out of your comfort zone.
